Cutting the Cable Cord with Amazon Prime Movies and Amazon Channels
Paying for cable television these days can be ridiculously expensive. What's even worse is that it seems like every time you see your cable bill there's some kind of miscellaneous fee that gets tacked on without you ever agreeing to it. Most people pay at least $100 a month (or more) for cable and it just feels like you're getting held ransom by these cable company giants. But in this day in age, we finally have options to strip off the ball and chain of cable and still get the quality movies and shows that we crave.
Now since you're here on my site I'm going to assume that you already know how great Netflix is. It's a perfect substitute for cable if you just want to watch the movies you've grown to love. But what about the premium channels? One of the biggest drawbacks of losing cable is having to figure out how to get all your favorite premium channels like HBO back.
So what's the best option to get our favorite series on HBO back after we cut the cable cord? Well, if you don't already have an Amazon Prime account, the first thing we need to do is start a FREE trial with Amazon Prime and give it a try. You can always cancel before the 30 days if you decide it's not for you.
If you don't already know, Amazon Prime is pretty awesome. If you're a big consumer of Amazon products like I am, getting free two-day shipping is great. Sometimes you can even get Amazon Prime free one-day shipping. The Amazon Prime marketplace is full of every type of product you can imagine and you can almost always find a good deal. The annual fee of Amazon Prime is around $99 depending on if they have a promotion or not, but for me, that is well worth it. Not only do you get free shipping on all Prime products, you get access to Amazon Prime streaming movies. Although I primarily cover Netflix movies here at jamilslist.com I've been slowly but surely putting my time into finding the best streaming movies on Amazon Prime as well. There are some hidden gems on there that I'm sure people would love to know about. Having both Netflix and Amazon Prime movies to stream is a great way to keep us away from those huge cable bills without putting a dent in our bank account. Once you have Prime and have the ability to take advantage of all their streaming movies, the next step is to get all the favorite premiums channels you crave back after dropping cable.
How do we do that?
Amazon Channels! And you can always start with a 30 day FREE trial of Amazon Channels. Again, just cancel within 30 days if you feel like it's not for you in the end.
Amazon Channels
Amazon Channels is a fairly new option to get all the premium channels you need without having to rely on cable. It has received great reviews about the quality of content, and it is consistently updated with new shows. As a reminder, to get Amazon Channels you must be an Amazon Prime member too.
What exactly is Amazon Channels?
Amazon Channels is a streaming service provided by Amazon that lets you choose from a variety of premium channels to watch such as HBO, Starz, Cinemax, Showtime, and much more. You can stream Amazon Channels content anywhere and on any device with the convenience of having all your favorite streaming shows on one platform.
Although free to access with your Amazon Prime membership, you will need to purchase any premium channels you want on Amazon Channels for around $10 - $14. There are also cheaper options for T.V. shows and the costs will vary depending on how many options you decide to go with.
To me, it's very convenient to have all of your channels in one place without having to log into a million different platforms. I particularly like Amazon Channels for their browser video player, but you can easily stream your shows with any TV device such as Roku or Amazon Fire TV Stick. I currently use the Roku Streaming Stick and simply plug it into the USB port of my T.V.. If you are curious as to what devices you can use, feel free to check here on Amazon. You can also watch Amazon Prime on Chromecast.
I couldn't be happier with Amazon Prime and I use it weekly. The Amazon Prime marketplace is huge and Amazon Prime movies are getting updated daily. It's even possible they're about to make a move to disrupt the streaming movies market. Amazon Channels is really starting to pick up as well and I think it's a great option right now for getting rid of cable and enjoying all your shows still. I really think the death of cable could be coming soon and Amazon might just pop-up through the ashes and provide us with a more reasonable option for our favorite T.V. shows and movies without putting too big of a hole in our wallets.
