Netflix vs Amazon
Netflix used to be the king reigning over the land of streaming video. We all have relied on Netflix at one time or another to provide us with the nightly entertainment we crave. To Netflix's credit, they have been there for us through the worst and best of moods, but out of the blue, a new kid came screaming down the block. You saw him coming from a distance but never really noticed him before. Now he's getting close enough that he's pushing people out of the way and getting even closer to the front of the pack! What is this kid screaming about you ask?
"Everyone listen up! There's more to life than Netflix!"
And what gives this imaginary kid the right to scream such blasphemy? The answer to that can be summed up in one word. Prime.
Amazon Prime Free Movies
Amazon seems to be taking over the world these days. It is crushing brick and mortar operations with thousands of products. The market stock has soared to ridiculous heights and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. When I think of Amazon, I think of the evil Umbrella corporation from the movie Resident Evil. They're getting so big they might just take over the world at this rate! But to conquer the world, you must take small steps to get there. Could the next step actually be the streaming movies market?
Whoa, not so fast.
Although Amazon Prime does come with streaming movies, there really is no comparison of the quality of movies listed on each platform. Netflix has an insane amount of good movies compared to the Amazon Prime free movies. That's not to say that the movies are all definitely good, but Netflix definitely has more quality than Amazon. When it comes to good movies, I would say the percentage of good movies on Netflix is around 40 percent and the percentage of good movies on Amazon is around 10 percent. So, if Amazon has way more movies (and it does) it definitely does not have more quality ones. So why would people even consider getting Amazon Prime if not for the movies? The answer again is the benefit of Prime.
Amazon Prime
The best parts of Amazon Prime are the discounts and free two-day shipping. Now, to truly take advantage of these benefits, you must be a frequent Amazon user. If you only use Amazon to buy Christmas presents, it doesn't make much sense to pay $99 per year for an Amazon Prime subscription on top of the few presents you buy every year--just to receive two-day shipping. What does make sense is if you are a constant consumer of Amazon products and you are constantly saving money on the discounted prices of Amazon Prime products. Plus, you get them in two days which is always nice.
So my opinion on Amazon Prime free movies absolutely comes down to the benefit of Amazon Prime and if it's worth it to you. The movies on Amazon Prime are decent, but they are not the greatest. All you have to do is google for "Amazon best movies" and you'll quickly see that the supply is limited. What's worse is that there are so many blogs out there that claim to list the best movies on Amazon, but they're just listing all of the movies on Amazon! The next time you google for that, take notice. You might not want to trust these big company blogs claiming to provide you with quality when all they're really providing is quantity.
Back to the discussion of Netflix Vs Prime
Now that we know the main differences, Netflix provides more quality movies and Prime provides multiple Amazon Prime benefits, how else can we differentiate them?
One way to compare them is the accessibility of other streaming services such as HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime. Once you have Prime and you've spent a fair amount of time searching through Amazon, you realize that besides Amazon streaming movies, you actually have access to all the premium movies (for $10 - $14) you would usually only get with cable. Netflix has no access to premium channels and only provides streaming movies. Amazon Prime also offers new movies to purchase if you ever want them. At $4.99 a pop, I don't exactly consider that a deal, but some people might find some value in having those options. Sometimes having all of your entertainment in one place can be enough for anyone to decide that Amazon Prime is more suited for them than Netflix.
Side note, if you're looking for ways to cut the cord with cable, Amazon Channels is a great place to start. You can stream all the big name channels like HBO, Starz, Cinemax, Showtime, and more. They also offer a free trial. Click here if you're interested in checking it out.
One way that Netflix ups it's value compared to Amazon Prime free movies is Netflix Originals movies, shows, and documentaries. Netflix Original movies have come a long way and are producing some of the best quality movies on Netflix. The Netflix Originals production team has created award winning documentaries and countless movies that you will find on my list. If Netflix continues down this path, it will create a monopoly of great movies that are only on Netflix. There is such a thing as "Amazon Studios" but it pales in comparison.
Netflix and Amazon Trials
First thing first, both Netflix and Amazon Prime offer free trials. Once you read through this post and decide which one is best for you, feel free to give one (or both) a try. You really have nothing to lose for 30 days.

Now that you know that you have to have Amazon Prime to get access to Amazon Prime free movies, you can click to try an Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial here.
What about comparing Netflix Vs Amazon Prime platforms
Well, I'll keep this section short. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime platforms are horrible to navigate. There are numerous complaints of both platforms being nightmares to operate, but what can you do? This comparison just cancels each other out.
One area where Netflix wins
Although both platforms are pretty bad, Netflix does have the advantage when it comes to the variety of devices that you can stream them on. Netflix has been around for much longer than Amazon movies and streaming platforms clearly favor it more. You would be hard pressed to find a platform that didn't support Netflix, but there are many that don't support Amazon.
Alright alright, what's the verdict?
So there isn't a clear answer to this one. If you're looking for a streaming movie service Netflix is the winner without a doubt. It has much more quality movies and has a production team at the company that is starting to really churn out some great films. If you're looking for a service that provides some decent streaming movies, comes with discounted products, and has the possibility of cutting the cord with cable with its premium channels (that come with a price) Amazon Prime is for you. If you're like me, sometimes it can be hard to decide which to go with, so in this case, I say it's too close. Just go with both!
