Top 10 Comedies on Netflix Ranked

Get prepared for some funny movies on Netflix! In this day in age, it's pretty hard to keep up with Netflix comedies. I say that because every time I find a good comedy to watch on Netflix, they seem to take it off the next day. You know, that reminds me, I'm going to start doing some research into why they decide to take movies off. I'm guessing that they just look at the numbers, no matter if the movie is horrible or not, then just remove it based on that. Which is a serious mistake on their part! I wish I could bring you a list of all the best comedies on Netflix, but unfortunately, they've already removed more than half of them before I could complete this post. So today we have a list of the best comedies on Netflix ranked from 10 to 1, with 1 obviously being the best. That's not to say that the 10th option isn't a good comedy on Netflix, on the contrary. Every single movie that you see on my Netflix movie list is a great movie to watch at any time, it's just that some just barely edge out others. So take a look at the movies below and feel free to pick any of them. They're all quality, but I would still like to rank them in the order of great, to greatest.

10: Turbo Kid

Topping off the list we have Turbo Kid. In Turbo Kid a boy lives a solitary life in a post apocalyptic world run by scavengers. Like I mentioned at the start, in no way is Turbo Kid a bad movie because it is in 10th place. On the contrary, I love Turbo Kid. This is probably one of the quirkiest comedies on Netflix right now. This is one of two Canadian movies on my list and they really know how to make fun of the 80's genre! The story is out of this world, but neither the director nor you should care. Nearly every scene has a ridiculous premise, but everything just works with Turbo Kid. It doesn't take long for the blood to spill and the one liners to come spewing out. Turbo Kid deserves to be in the cult classic category and there are too many laughs in this one to count. Funny Netflix movies are tough to find and Turbo Kid is a great choice.

9: The Mule

The Mule is one of the rare comedies on this list that is actually based on true events. Funny Netflix movies based on true crime always add an extra layer of entertainment. I always think it's interesting when a director can interject some laughs into a real life story that seems to be a pretty serious situation. It kind of makes me wonder if there was any comedy to really be had in the original story, or if it was just a little too dark of a story for them to not add some comedy into. Either way, I'd say The Mule is still one of the best movies to watch on Netflix right now because it has everything you need in a dark comedy.

8: I Don't Feel Home In This World Anymore

Before I talk about I Don't Feel Home In This World Anymore it should be said that the comedy in this movie is very dark. That's not to say it isn't funny, it's just that I want to warn you that some of the comedy in this movie is pretty harsh. With that being said, I Don't Feel Home In This World Anymore can be pretty funny to watch! This movie is a classic Sundance film with funny, original characters. I didn't find myself laughing out loud all that much, but just when things started to get a little too serious, there would be some sporadic humor that had me instantly smiling. Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood work great together and it's no surprise that this one won big at Sundance. If you didn't already know, Macon Blair made his directorial debut with I Don't Feel Home In This World Anymore and he absolutely kills it. Although we shouldn't be surprised after seeing his roles in Blue Ruin and Green Room. So check it out, it's good for great, albeit dark, laughs!

7: Take Me

Take Me was an easy addition to the list. I love the off the wall comedy and the originality that Pat Healy continues to bring. Take Me wasn't any big blockbuster and it didn't get amazing reviews, but never mind that. It's a fun, low budget comedy, that just works. Kidnapping for hire doesn't seem like a very lucrative business, but hey, what do I know! Apparently, it's working out for Ray Moody. I almost feel bad saying it, but Pat Healy pulls off these characters like he's almost lived the life before. I guess you call that method acting, but I swear he must have some of the genes of the characters he plays. Taylor Schilling pulls off a pretty hilarious, and super crazy, role and she keeps the laughs coming even when Pat Healy's character doesn't know what's going on. This is a great comedy on Netflix and you shouldn't have any doubts that you'll get some laughs out of it.

6: Cheap Thrills

Just beating out Take Me for the sixth spot is Cheap Thrills. Here we have an even better Pat Healy movie that is one of the seriously funny Netflix movies. I swear he pulls these movies off with no budget and just a funny and interesting script. Cheap Thrills is about a guy down on his luck and desperate for cash. What had me laughing in Cheap Thrills was how ridiculously desperate these guys were getting for cash. I think we've all been there, and not having any money is a horrible thing, but that doesn't mean we'd be willing to give up our dignity for it! Cheap Thrills will take you down a hilariously dark path and I definitely recommend you take a chance on it. Pat Healy is really coming into his own in the dark comedy space.

5: Housebound

We're getting down to the nitty gritty now. Coming in at number 5 of the best comedies on Netflix we have Housebound. I don't know a single person that didn't like watching Housebound. The reviews are great and the story is even better. Housebound is about a girl forced to serve house arrest for a burglary charge. While stuck in the home she starts to wonder what spirits are lurking within. Housebound actually sounds much more like a horror movie than a comedy, but I promise you it's a comedy on Netflix. Despite the fact that it has some genuinely good scares, Housebound is one of the funniest movies on Netflix. It's really interesting how Housebound skates the line between a horror, thriller, and comedy movie on Netflix. There's even a little bit of gore for us! Everyone laughs at bloody gore right?? Or wait, maybe that's just me!

4: DeathGasm

It's time to rock out with DeathGasm!! Brody and Zak bond over their mutual passion for heavy metal but things turn dark once they stumble upon a ballad that summons a demon. Just like Housebound, this is another great comedy out of New Zealand. DeathGasm is an over the top horror comedy that has as much blood splattering moments as laughs. In an age when horror movies are just cookie cutter crap, DeathGasm steps up to the plate and knocks it out of the park. This whole movie is just a messy, fun adventure through the eyes of young New Zealand metalheads dealing with the undead. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I guarantee that you will be laughing very hard at one particular scene in this movie. I won't even say anything else, cause you'll see what I mean eventually. Just trust me on this, it's one of the funny Netflix movies.

3: Trailer Park Boys: The Movie

Now some people might be shocked to see the Trailer Park Boys listed as the number three funniest movie on Netflix. But it absolutely deserves to be here. When I first thought of watching the Trailer Park Boys, I thought I was going to last about 15 minutes and just switch it off like I do with about 15 movies every week. What caught me off guard with Trailer Park Boys was how funny these guys are. Is this one of the trashiest movies you might ever see? Well yes, it is. Is it also one of the funniest movies on Netflix? Yup! These Canadians guys have their own trailer park style and it's hilarious. I think a lot of people skip over Trailer Park Boys because they think it's just a stupid movie that will try to make people laugh at dumb guys in a trailer park. It's not. Trust me, there's a whole ridiculous storyline that is perfect for these guys and it's bound to put some tears in your eyes.

2: Hot Fuzz

It's getting down to the wire! At number two we have a classic that is probably already on everyone's list of not only the best comedies on Netflix but the best movies on Netflix as well. Hot Fuzz is the story of Nicholas Angel the super cop. He's making everyone in the station look bad so they send him off to a remote village to investigate small town life. I remember seeing Hot Fuzz for the first time and losing it. After seeing (and loving) Shaun of the Dead I quickly understood how people were claiming this was a worthy follow-up movie. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are hilarious throughout the whole movie and there's really no dull moments in Hot Fuzz. Not only are the main characters good, but there are so many funny co-stars in this movie. And I must say that the general public finally got it right and gave Hot Fuzz raving reviews. That is honestly not a normal thing to happen, trust me. Not only is Hot Fuzz one of the funniest movies on Netflix, it's actually a pretty fun little mystery movie. I know most people have already seen Hot Fuzz, but if you haven't, check it out tonight.

1: Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil

Well, we made it to #1! And common, it wasn't a surprise, was it? Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil is definitely the funniest movie on Netflix. Tucker and Dale just went out in the woods to have a good time. Along come a bunch of riled up no good teenagers to mess it all up. If you don't like Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil I really don't know what to tell you. As sad as I am to say it, I guess my movies just aren't for you. I mean it has everything you could want in a comedy on Netflix. In this comedy, we have perfectly acted teenage roles, blood, gore, bodies, more blood, and Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk who absolutely crushed it as hillbillies. They don't come off as the stereotypical back woods Deliverance types either. They hold the hillbilly standards pretty high and come off as fun personable guys who just have the bad luck of getting a bad rap. There's just so much fun and energy in Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil that it can't be missed. I promise you, it is so funny there's no way you won't laugh. In fact, I think I just found your favorite comedy on Netflix. Enjoy it!

Whew, we made it through all the best comedies Netflix has to offer. Funny Netflix movies are not easy to find these days! It was really tough narrowing everything down to only 10 of the best comedies, but I think I did a pretty good job. Like I keep saying, you really can't go wrong with any of these movies. It's just that you might laugh one or two more times than you did with the last movie you watched, each time you go down the list towards number 1. This list is full of funny Netflix movies and if you think I'm missing anything, please feel free to email me and let me know! So at this point, you can say that you cracked the code on finding the best comedies on Netflix. Coming up, we'll look at the top 10 horrors on Netflix so be sure to stay tuned for that.

Enjoy!
